PGDip/MSc in
Urban Water & Environmental Management
This
programme provides students with the knowledge and technical skills
to manage pollution that can arise from urbanisation and allows
students to develop a detailed understanding of the aquatic environment.
This course also equips students with the knowledge and skills required
to address the issues encountered by public and private employers
who are concerned with environmental management.
The programme
educational aims are as follows:
From
the taught modules;
- Provide students with opportunities
to focus on water problems caused by expanding urban areas worldwide.
- Equip students with the techniques to
manage discharges to water bodies from both point and diffuse
sources.
- Enable students to develop the methodologies
required to address the problems regulated by environmental directives
and other forms of statutory instruments.
- Equip students with the knowledge and
skills for a career in the water and/or environmental management
sector.
From
the MSc dissertation, additionally;
- Further develop student expertise on
specific issues of urban environmental management.
- Develop the capability to integrate
the results of detailed studies to reach conclusions in holistic
problems of sustainability.
- Enable students to acquire tools to
operate in senior positions of leadership and decision-making.
- Enable students to acquire an academic
qualification recognised by relevant professional bodies.

Study
Duration
Full
time: The course duration is 12 months, from September
to October of the following year. Students attend classes mainly
on Mondays and Tuesdays.
Part-Time:
The part-time course has a minimum duration of 2½
years. Students attend classes mainly one day per
week (Monday or Tuesdays) in Years 1 and 2.
