FREE SUDS Training
for Planners
DUNDEE

The
Urban Water Technology Centre, in association with the Improvement
Service, is pleased to present the first of several SUDS training
events developed specifically for Planners who need to pilot different
types of solutions to flooding and SUDS issues through the planning
process.
The
course follows the format run over the past few years in collaboration
with many Scottish Councils.
- The first day will
be an optional day of visits to specific SUDS sites in Dundee
.
- The second day will
be a mix of lectures, discussion and case study working to give
a real flavour of implementing SUDS systems from the Planners
perspective.
Key
Issues which will be covered in the course are;
- Surface water catchment
management and its relationship to physical planning; progress
in practice.
- The concepts of strategic
catchment management planning including stakeholder engagement.
- Drainage Assessment
Guidance: its role in design and regulation.
- Best practice guidance
on the planning, design, construction, operation and maintenance
of SUDS and effective implementation of SUDS within developments.
- Sewerage asset management
and strategic surface water management: A speaker from Scottish
Water.
- The potential contribution
of surface water management to the sustainability objectives of
River Basin Management Planning: Sean Caswell of SEPA.
